What Makes a Job Description Work
Based on our analysis of 512 postings, the ones that attract the most qualified candidates share these traits:
Disclose compensation. 65% of postings include salary ranges. Those that do get 3x more qualified applicants. It's not just good practice, it's increasingly required by law.
Name your tools. "CRM experience" means nothing. "Salesforce Admin with SOQL proficiency" tells candidates exactly whether they're qualified. Mention your actual stack.
Separate must-haves from nice-to-haves. The template above does this. Listing 15 requirements with no prioritization scares off qualified candidates (especially women and underrepresented groups, who are less likely to apply unless they meet 100% of requirements).
Describe the team, not just the role. Will they report to a CRO or a VP of Sales? Do they have peers in ops? Is this a new function or an existing team? Context matters.
Skip the cliches. "Fast-paced environment," "wear many hats," and "rockstar" tell candidates nothing useful. Say what makes this role specifically interesting.
Tools to Mention in Your Posting

Scope creep. A RevOps Manager shouldn't also be the webmaster, IT help desk, and event coordinator. If the role covers all of this, title it appropriately and pay accordingly.
Ignoring the "ops" in RevOps. Some companies post "RevOps" roles that are sales management or business strategy positions. If the role doesn't involve systems, data, or processes, it's not RevOps.
